This week I can’t put down John Preston’s fascinating retelling of the Profumo affair, A Very English Scandal. With sex, scandal, intrigue and a even a failed assassination, politics doesn’t get much grimier or more gripping.
The whole family is watching the digitally remastered Scott of the Antarctic, starring John Mills and reminding us of one of man’s most ambitious and perilous adventures. Perfect viewing for all generations and the clipped accents from Mills et al are sublime.
Plus for all those reluctant child readers out there, there’s a new Tom Gates novel, the 10th in the series and the latest issue of ‘The Week Junior’ which every self respecting household should subscribe to so your children can lecture you on global affairs over dinner!
